A guide to help you locate books, scholarly articles, and primary sources as well as citation guidelines related to historical research.

Scholarly Article Databases

Log in to Esearch for full access to the library databases. Several of these databases provide tools which limit the search to historical journal content.

Academic Search CompleteMulti-disciplinary database.

   *Select "Scholarly/Peer Reviewed" to limit your search to academic journals.

JSTOR: Scholarly journal archive with over 5,000 history-related titles.

   *In Advanced Search under "NARROW BY DISCIPLINE AND/OR PUBLICATION TITLE" select "History" or specific journal(s)

Oxford Journals: Scholarly journal database with multiple history journal titles.

Project Muse: Scholarly journal database.

   *Select option to limit your search to "History" under "Research Areas"

ProQuest: Multidisciplinary database.

   *Select "Scholarly" and "Peer Reviewed."

Sage: Scholarly journal database.

   *Under "Search Within" choose "Select from a list of disciplines," then "Social Sciences & Humanities," then "History"
