Websites to help you cite your sources

Online Writing Lab (OWL)  at Purdue University

Refworks is an online research management, writing, and collaboration tool. It is designed to help researchers gather, manage, store, and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibilographies. RefWorks collaborates with some of the world’s most prestigious online information service providers including ProQuest, BioOne, EBSCO, Elsevier, HighWire, H.W. Wilson, ISI, OCLC, Ovid, and Serial Solutions, to name a few. The library subscribes to many of the materials provided these vendors and your research can be directly exported to RefWorks.

Formatting Styles

MLA (Modern Language Association): used for most Humanities courses

APA (American Psychological Association): used for most Social Science courses

Chicago Manual of Style/Turabian: used for most History courses

NOTE: If your instructor does not tell you what type of citation format to use ask him/her for guidance. If they let you pick, pick the format you are most comfortable with and be consistent (i.e. don't switch back and forth between formatting styles).

Also, if you are having difficulty figuring out how to cite a source stop by the Reference Desk and ask a librarian for help OR check out one of the style guide books available at the circulation desk.
